In effect equity release is a lifetime mortgage which can run until you move, die or redeem it. The terms can vary enormously from bank to bank and this route may be suitable for people with properties of value in excess of €150,500, and with no top limit. However the reasons and benefits of undertaking such an exercise may vary from client to client and would need to be ascertained with an initial meeting. Clients can borrow against almost any asset, this can range from properties, both commercial and residential, through to land plots, investment portfolios and even yachts!
We ensure that the client receives the most suitable scheme in terms of loan costs and investment, we also ensure that all of these costs are kept to a minimum and generally rebate a % of our fees or commissions to ensure that the client receives the best terms possible. If possible we like to keep the lender and the investment separate. Having freedom to invest in a variety of assets and move amongst these is we feel very important because it allows us to react and manage the portfolios according to market conditions. In our view loan schemes which try to tie the client to one investment fund do not always provide the flexibility and impartially we favour.
